> Why do you love samba?
Samba is the ultimate expression of joy and celebration, and I love the confidence I find in myself when I'm dancing.
> Favourite performance?
Nothing can compare to parading with a Samba school at Carnival in Rio de Janeiro! Singing in Portugese, surrounded by passionate Cariocas all moving to the biggest bateria (Samba drumming band) I've ever seen!
> Favourite Brazil experience?
Waking up to the sound of live drumming and joining the blocos - Block Parties - every day during Carnival! The vibe throughout the city was incredible.

> Why do you love samba?
I fell in love with Samba in Rio after experiencing a samba school’s rehearsal in 2009. I was mesmerised by the powerful drums, the energy of the dancers and allegria (happiness) exploding from everyone. I came home and signed up to samba lessons and haven’t stopped dancing!
> Favourite performance?
It wasn’t technically a ‘performance’ but dancing samba reggae to live drums in the streets of Salvador, the culturally-rich birth place of Samba.
> Favourite Brazil experience?
Dancing samba every day for a month! On boats, studios, samba clubs, hotel rooms, beaches, planes, airports, streets and the sambadrome, of course!

> Why do you love samba?
I love the feathers and sparkles (hehe). Seriously though – I remember the very first Samba performance I watched as an audience member, and I was blown away. I wanted to feel how they looked on stage. Samba to me is a mixture of happiness, power, beauty, grace, colour and energy. I walked away from that performance wanting to be part of it, never ever imagining that a couple of years later it would be me on stage, dancing next to the girls behind my inspiration.
> Favourite performance?
Florianopolis Carnival. I can’t remember how long we waited or how long it took for us to dance the whole sambadrome - it went far too quick. From memory we got ready at 9pm and started from one end of the Sambadrome at 2am!! It was so worth the wait!! I could not wipe the smile from my face the whole time, I didn’t know where to look: the crowd, or the incredible passistas in front of us. Experience of a lifetime!
> Favourite Brazil experience?
It’s so hard to pick just one, but dancing in the streets of Salvador - wow! I don’t have the words to describe it. Celebrating 100 years of Samba, live drums, my mind was blown!

> Why do you love samba?
I love the passion and energy of Samba and the Brazilian culture that shines through. We have the best of both worlds in a dance style that combines power and strength with elegance and grace.
> Favourite performance?
I loved the fun and atmosphere of Rambutan at New Years Eve 2016.
> Favourite Brazil experience?
How could I pick just one?! Dancing in the streets of Salvador behind a live bateria, parading in the Floripa Carnival or soaking up the atmosphere at the Rio Carnival finalists parade… just to name a few.

“The Tropicalistas brought beauty, radiance and sparkle to my 30th birthday party with their energetic performance and sensational costumes  . All my guests (of all ages) had a ball and Jodie even got the guys up to do Samba which was hilarious! Would book them again in a heartbeat.” - Steph, August 2016
